California NanoSystems Institute Groundbreaking
February 14, 2003
Court of Sciences

The California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI), a multidisciplinary partnership between UCLA and UCSB, is one of four California Institutes for Science and Innovation established by Governor Gray Davis in December 2000. The new 180,000 square foot CNSI building, located on the UCLA campus in the Court of Sciences, will house state-of-the art facilities to support the work of scientists and engineers from California universities, industries, and national laboratories. The ceremonial groundbreaking was attended by over 300 guests and included 30 CNSI student groups displaying their area of nanoscience research. The speaking program included remarks by the Governor, UC President, the two Chancellors, CNSI acting directors, and an industry representative.
