Eli and Edythe Broad Art Center Dedication

September 13, 2006

Broad Art Center

Thanks in large part to the architecture firm of Richard Meier & Partners and philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad, the UCLA School of Arts & Architecture has a seismically repaired a distinctive new home — formerly known as Dickson Art Center — for its internationally recognized visual arts programs. The new complex, which houses the Department of Art, the Department of Design | Media Arts and the New Wight Gallery, and includes studios and galleries for exhibitions and public presentations, was dedicated at a public breakfast reception and press conference on September 13 to great acclaim. Featuring remarks by Eli Broad and First Lady of California Maria Shriver, as well as architect Richard Meier and artist Richard Serra, the press conference was followed by a private luncheon at the Chancellor's residence honoring the Broads .
